Welcome to the Mt Cook Motels

Mt Cook Motels offer comfortable self-contained accommodation in the heart of Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park.

Located in the lower Aoraki Village, they're the perfect base for hiking, sightseeing and discovering one of New Zealand's most spectacular alpine destinations.

Before you book, here's everything you need to know about your stay.

Location

• Mt Cook Motels are located in the lower Aoraki Village, approximately 800 metres from the Hermitage Hotel.
• Check-in is at Mt Cook Lodge from October to April and at the Hermitage Hotel from May to September.

Self-Catering Facilities

• All motel units include a kitchen, lounge area and outdoor patio.
• Ideal for families, groups and guests wanting the flexibility to prepare their own meals.

Dining

• Guests booking Bed & Breakfast or Dinner, Bed & Breakfast packages will dine at the Hermitage Hotel.
• The Chamois Bar & Grill is located 50 metres away at Mt Cook Lodge and serves pub favourites and Kiwi classics from 4.00pm daily.
• Please note the Chamois Bar & Grill is closed from 9 May – 31 August 2026.

Experiences

• Visit the Activities Retail Centre at the Hermitage Hotel for information on walks and to book guided experiences, including Glacier Explorers and Big Sky Stargazing.

• Motel rooms do not have views of Aoraki/ Mount Cook
