The Hermitage Hotel is ideally situated for indoor and outdoor weddings with a range of venues and scenic locations to suit any ceremony. From a large wedding on the front lawn of The Hermitage Hotel to an intimate ceremony on top of one of our spectacular mountains, the dramatic landscape of the Aoraki Mount Cook region provides the most breathtaking backdrop for weddings all year-round.

Suggested locations include:

  • The front lawns of The Hermitage Hotel. A beautiful private area surrounded by native bush, the Southern Alps and Aoraki Mount Cook as a backdrop.
  • Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. Choose locations from bridges, tussock covered fields or evergreen forests, all either a short walk or drive away. Suitable for larger and smaller wedding parties.
  • Atop the Southern Alps. For the more adventurous, fly into the mountains and get married on top of an alpine peak or on a snow covered glacier. Peer down on the valleys below and be mesmerised by towering mountain ranges that surround you.
  • The shores of Lake Pukaki. Only a short drive away with its beautiful turquoise waters and Aoraki Mount Cook towering in the background.
  • A charming historic Church. Nearby churches include the Church of the Good Shepherd located on the shores of Lake Tekapo or the Burkes Pass Church, followed by a Hermitage wedding reception with all your friends & family.

If the weather is not on your side, The Snowline Lounge in The Hermitage Hotel makes a perfect intimate ceremony location with its feature windows and roaring open fire. Larger wedding ceremonies can be held in the Alpine Restaurant or The Panorama Room, where the high ceilings and panoramic windows gives off a cathedral feel to the venue.
