Visas & Work Permits
If you are from overseas you will need to obtain a work permit
to be employed by us. You may obtain a work permit either by having
a Working Holiday Visa or by receiving a Work Permit Sponsorship
from The Hermitage.
Working Holiday Visas
For information about Working Holiday Visa's visit the Department of
Immigration website
Most international staff will apply having first obtained a
Working Holiday Visa. if you have applied, but approval is pending,
you may still lodge an application. However, you must send us
evidence of acceptance before an interview can be considered.
Sponsorship Visas
For information about Sponsorship Visas visit the Department of Immigration
website
For most positions, the availability of sponsorship is dependent
on the number of applications we receive from New Zealand and
Australian citizens, as per the New Zealand Immigration policy.
Sponsorship is currently straight forward to arrange for high
demand positions such as Sous Chefs and Chef de Partie. To be
eligible for consideration you must have solid experience and all
relevant qualifications. The Hermitage may be able to support your
application, but the final decision is always made by New Zealand
Immigration and therefore, all of their criteria must be met as
well.
In all cases, whether it by Working Holiday or Sponsorship Visa,
you must supply evidence of your final work permit before you can
commence employment. It is recommended that you do this at the time
of your application or as soon as practical thereafter. If you have
only supplied a copy of your work visa you must also supply
evidence of your work permit when this is awarded upon entry to New
Zealand. If your work permit has a 3 month limit on employment, you
may still apply, however we generally require a 4 to 5 month
employment commitment. Finally, make sure your work permit does not
expire before the end of your employment contract.
