The Hermitage employs approximately 90 full-time staff year
round. Each summer we employ an additional 100 or so to join our
team and ensure that our guests have an amazing, unforgettable
experience. We seek team members that can handle the pace with

Returning Employees
Living & Working in Mount Cook
The majority of our staff live within the Mount Cook Village. A
small number live in nearby Twizel and transport to and from the
hotel in provided. The style of staff accommodation varies. Your
accommodation will be allocated to you when you arrive. Most
staff who join us for their first season are housed on site. Each
room has a bed, set of drawers, wardrobe and hand basin. You do not
have to share a room and your room is lockable. Toilets and showers
are unisex as we do not separate male and female staff members into
separate blocks.
Double rooms are available for couples and for those working in
more senior positions. We have a limited number of 'motel' style
accommodation units which have cooking facilities and a private
bathroom. These units are allocated to Supervisors and above.
It was great I
showed up and everything was provided for me already - clean room,
linen and 3 meals a day all I had to do was turn up to work the
next day and start learning my new job no stress of flat hunting.
And the best thing is my new home is 9min walk to work through some
of NZ's best scenery - Jenna Chapman
